Search Minneapolis Condo Sheriff’s Sale Records

Interested in finding out what a condo sold for at the sheriff’s sale? The Hennepin County website keeps good track of all the information (although not guaranteed for accuracy) from address to lien type when filed.

Here is the site.

You can track a property through the redemption period and if the homeowner doesn’t cure the default, more than likely it will be listed by the the bank once that period ends so if you have interest, you’ll be the first to know.

You can’t search for the notice of default or NODs, you would have to go to a local legal newspaper for that whether in print or online.

Minneapolis Condos That Went Pending For The Week Starting September 14th

Here is a little mini-market report about the condos that went pending in Minneapolis this past week:

  • 17 condos/lofts went pending in Minneapolis (down from 19 last week)
  • Average pending sales price $339,540
  • Median pending sales price $219,900
  • Days on market 84
  • Average price per square foot $268.11

Looks like Phoenix On The River was the winner this past week, placing three condos on the pending sales side. Also important to note that numbers were a little higher than last week only because a few luxury penthouse condos sold for over $1 million.

Remember that these stats are pending sales (from the NorthstarMLS), the final prices will not be known until the property closes

Get An Extra $8000 Towards Your Skyscape Condo Purchase

You’ve surely heard about the $8000 housing tax credit by now… I hope. Now you can double it!

Skyscape Condos in Minneapolis is offering an extra $8000 towards the purchase of your new condo if you close on it by November 30th, 2009. [see the website]

If you are interested in checking out some condos in Skyscape, let me hear it.

Apartments coming to the Mill District?

Rising from the failed Portland condo project, here come apartments?

From the StarTrib:

Village Green Companies, a Michigan-based rental property owner and developer, has reworked an agreement to buy the site bounded by S. 2nd Street and Washington and Portland Avenues so that it can proceed with plans for a 175-unit apartment building. The site is owned by the city and Brighton Development Corp., which canceled plans for the condos and a live/work project because of lower-than-anticipated interest from buyers and tenants.

Given the article, looks like the name of the apartment complex is going to be Mill City District Apartments. Think they need to put some better thought behind that name given the history behind the names of the condo projects (see bottom of article, they are very creative with naming apartments [insert snark here]).

A Wicked Awesome Deli Called Be’wiched

Be'wiched Deli

First time here but definitely won’t be the last, what a great find along Washington Ave in the North Loop.

Had the roast beef on ciabatta bun with horseradish and havartti cheese. Topped off with an awesome onion sauce. You can purchase the sandwiches as a whole or half with a side salad (I went with the pasta salad).

From their website:

We use the freshest ingredients to create healthy food from scratch using local, natural and sustainable food whenever possible. Be’wiched Deli features house cured and smoked meats, fresh bakery items, and fast service.

Likes:

  • Natural ingredients
  • Unique, culinary sandwiches. Not your run of the mill type stuff.
  • Friendly staff (even helped figure out the band that was playing on the radio)
  • Environmentally conscious

Dislikes:

  • It was empty, but it was 2:00 in the afternoon on Saturday. So I guess that really doesn’t count ;-)

You find Be’wiched Deli in the Warehouse District located off Washington Ave and is definitely pushing the envelope of what a great deli should be!

Now The Ivy Condo’s Are In Court Order Receivership

Last month, the hotel part went into court appointed receivership at the Ivy… now it’s the condo’s turn.

From the Star Tribune:

Turnstone Holding LLC will serve as the receiver for the 92-unit condo building in addition to the 136-room hotel, according to documents filed Monday in Hennepin County Court. The two properties were built in a $88 million project that also included renovating the historic Ivy Tower at 11th Street and 2nd Avenue S.

This project seems like a mess at this point as the article points out only 1/4 of the units have sold out of the 92.

I just checked the MLS and there are currently only 3 active listings but 11 are currently pending. Make sure to do your due diligence or let me know if you are interested in checking any of these out.

Will keep posted once I hear more about the status.

Minneapolis A Cultural Tourism Center?

From Forbes:

Another cultural center worth visiting is Minneapolis, perhaps better known for its chilly weather than its arts scene. Yet this snowy metro’s excellent public radio station hosts famous shows like A Prairie Home Companion. Other cultural institutions include the Guthrie Theater, Walker Art Center and Mill City Museum.

Us locals have known about this for awhile, nice to see some national respect ;-)
