Mill District

The Mill District is one of the most historic neighborhoods in Minneapolis located on the riverfront in the Downtown East district along the west banks of the Mississippi River. The area is rich in history and culture, the area has gone through quite the redevelopment over the past ten plus years with many of the historic buildings being renovated to luxury condominiums, lofts and commercial/retail space.

The area was once called the ‘flour milling capital of the world’ but once fossil fuels were introduced as power, the area dried up and vacated. In the late nineties, the City enacted the Historic Mills District Master Plan to encourage renovation and revival of the area and it took off from there. Businesses relocated to the area and new ones have popped up.
